SHORT STORY: LOVE

“Everyone needs compassion and a love that never ceases…” goes the first lyrics of Chris Tomlin’s song.
Love is a subject we hear so often, yet it still tickles a natural instinct everytime it is mentioned. There is a lot of ado around the word. It is too complicated that the Greeks subdivided it into three phenomena- Eros, Philia and Agape.
No matter which form, we are made for love. Deep within each heart is a craving to be loved. King Solomon in the bible says, “The power of love is as strong as the power of death.” We see an example of this in the life of a man, Christ Jesus, who was so obsessed with love for all humanity, of every tribe and color and language and nation that he was brutally nailed for them that even knew him not. Ever loved someone who does not even know you love them? Or worse still, have you ever had your offer of love rejected?
Many a time, we are too much soaked in our little worlds that nothing else seems to matter. We want people to love us, but we do nothing to make us worthy of love. If you want to be loved, then love someone. And, you shall measure true love by these factors:
Love is patient and kind, never jealous, boastful, proud or rude.
Love isn’t selfish or quick tempered. It doesn’t keep a record of wrongs that others do.
Love rejoices in the truth, but not in evil.
Love is always supportive, loyal, hopeful, and trusting.
Love never fails!
With the above well considered, go on and love (eros), love (philia), and LOVE (agape)!
